Canon Papercraft Cameras

Yeah, so you may remember me saying something about accidentally deleting a few things because of an FTP client glitch I had while updating wordpress. Well, a commenter by the name of “George b” spotted another one: the papercraft model of the Canon EOS 1Ds Mk II. Thankfully, I was able to find that model again, PLUS a couple more. Here’s your prize for pointing out the 404, George; the 1Ds Mk II, PLUS a EOS Kiss Digital N (AKA EOS 350D, AKA Digital Rebel XT) AND a Canon AE-1! Pics of the other two, plus links to everything after the jump:

Update: George B responded, and added his own contribution to the set; a model of the EF 300mm 1:2.8L IS USM that will fit on the 1Ds Mk II and EOS Kiss Digital N models! I’ve added it to the list after the jump, along with a few more items I found while poking around:

EOS 1Ds Parts: eos1ds_p
EOS 1Ds Instructions: eos1ds_a

EOS Kiss Digital N Parts: eos_kdn_p
EOS Kiss Digital N Instructions: eos_kdn_a

What, you don’t like the Rebel XT in silver? How about the black variant instead?

EOS Kiss Digital N (Black) parts: eos_kdn_b_p_all
EOS Kiss Digital N (Black) instructions: eos_kdn_b_a_all

AE-1 Parts: ae1_p
AE-1 Instructions: ae1_a

From George B:

What’s a 1Ds Mark II without a NICE EF300mm F2.8L IS USM !

George B

Here’s a local mirror of those two files.

EF 300mm 1:2.8L IS USM parts: ef300_p_all
EF 300mm 1:2.8L IS USM instructions: ef300_a_all

But wait a second… what’s that camera in that picture…

All hail the mighty Google, there’s a 5D as well!

EOS 5D parts: eos_5d_p_all
EOS 5D instructions: eos_5d_a_all

Now I don’t want you to run out of power while playing with your paper camera, so here, I’ll throw in a battery grip too.

BG-E4 parts: bge4_p_all
BG-E4 instructions: bge4_a_all

And just to make sure you’ve got a decent collection of lenses, here’s a EF 24-105 1:4L IS USM for good measure.

EF 24-105 1:4L IS USM parts: ef24_p_all
EF 24-105 1:4L IS USM instructions: ef24_a_all

So, just to sum this collection up you’ve got…

  • EOS 1Ds Mark II Body
  • EOS 5D Body
  • 2x EOS Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D / EOS Kiss Digital N Bodies, one black, one silver
  • Canon AE-1 Body
  • 2x EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II lens (one each in the Rebel XT kits)
  • EF 24-105mm 1:4L IS USM lens
  • EF 50mm 1:1.4 USM lens (in the 1Ds kit)
  • EF 300mm 1:2.8L IS USM lens
  • FD 50mm 1:1.8 lens (in the AE-1 kit)

All told, these total nearly 60MB of data. If you work with me at Canon ITS, feel free to stop by my classroom (I’m currently in the Lake Drummond room in building 840) and bring a CD or a thumb drive with you if you want the whole archive in one shot.

Here’s the link to Canon’s Japanese website with all these models.

Please, on what size of paper should it be printed? I’d like to build the 1Ds and the 300mm lens. It’s great papercraft and I’m crazy about digital cameras. Thank you very much

  12. Dirkus Says:

The properties for each PDF document should tell you the native size, but they should all fit on A4 paper easily. Just make sure you turn scaling off when you print. Enjoy!

    Very interesting!

  14. Jun Kai Says:

I personally Print it on Glossy Paper – 501 Canon
Cheap and 100pcs a pack! Which is suitable for building papercrafts.

Size is of course A4. Unless you want a huge EOS1, print on a3
